Matías Jesús Almeyda is a retired Argentine professional footballer and current football manager. He was born on December 21, 1973, in Azul, Argentina. Almeyda played as a defensive midfielder during his playing career and was known for his tough tackling and leadership qualities on the field.
Almeyda began his professional playing career with River Plate in Argentina before moving on to European clubs such as Sevilla, Lazio, and Parma. He also represented the Argentine national team, earning 35 caps and winning the Copa América in 1991.
